Birth of Java

  • In 1991 James Gosling and his friends(Mike Sheridan and Patrick Navghtan) start a project( green team).
  • when James Gosling start this project he gave name to this project called green talk and extension was .gt.
  • After green talk they decided to convert green talk into Oak.

 Oak

  • Oak is a national tree of many country's (USA, Germany, France etc).
  • At that time there was a Oak technology company register that name also so that's why they changed Oak in to Java.

Java

  • Java is a island of Indonesia
  • There is one coffee called by Java coffee which is very popular in this island, so    one day when Java developer's want to Java island and drink this Java coffee at that time they decided to give Java name to there programming language.
  • Also they gave Java coffee cup symbol to Java language.

Java versions


  1. First version of Java is JDK alpha and beta 1995by sun microsystem.
  2. Latest version of Java is Java 20 or JDK 20 in 2023 (oracle). 


  • Sun micro system sale Java to oracle corporation in 2010.


  • Java has three phases  
  1. core Java of software
  2.  advance of websites 
  3.  android Java of mobile app.
